The beats begin with acoustic drum kits and samples of real instruments and as the "years" progress, shift to be more digital and synthetic to represent the shift from being largely intuitive in childhood to being increasingly rational.

Finally, after puberty, there is a movement towards balancing the digital and acoustic, the real and the synthesized, the intuitive and the rational.
